Count Down to More Count Downs without an Idea of What's Going On

Today was Christopher's 16th birthday. Suddenly, my youngest sibling, whom I've always seen as a squeezy toy has become a hulking kid of 16. He is, in short, on the brink of being an adulthood. Time is really flying and the usual countdown to the end of the year is becomming more than just a countdown to the end of an old year and the begining of a new one. It is, if I can call it that, a count down into the unknown - into the years ahead and I don't know whatI can do about it.

I guess the weekend was pretty average. Had drinks with Luke on Saturday and went to listen to music with Hadi at Harry's in the Esplenade later that evening. Today was hanging out in the rain and visiting an old friend of mine late at night. In short, it was a weekend pretty much like most other weekends. Neither particularly exciting nor dull. But now, I'm feeling restless. I'm a bit on the young side so its a bit hard to talk about the feeling of wanting to do things with the time I have left. But even if I'm not about to drop dead (much as my ex-wife may wish it) I get the sense that there's alot I could have done but somehow didn't do it and time is passing me by.

Anyway, I'm off to interview the Asia-Pacific President of 3i-Infotech, an Indian IT company that I've been in talks with since the begining of the year. I'm looking forward to getting things underway with this relationship. New relationships are always exciting and I hope that I can use my personal clients to build up the cash reserves and pay down bills.

Also trying to tie-up things on a few projects with the 3M client. This has been one of the most interesting companies to deal with - the company redefines technology. Everyone gets caught-up with the idea that technology is about sexy and swanky computers. However, once you work with 3M, you realise that intense R&D efforts are placed on developing incredible technology platforms on things that are as simply as window films, sponges for the dishes and glue.

Last week was Julian's 1-year anniversary in private practice. Julian has been a fantastic doctor and it was really good to be able to meet-up with him and celebrate a very special occasion. The clinic's business has done well - he saw some 10,000 patients in the past year. But then again, he deserves his success - he does something incredible in his business - he helps people to see and the older I get, the more I've come to believe that "Karma" works in favour of people who do good. I believe Julian, and his new partner Wee Kiak will do very well in the years to come.
