New Movements

It's a fairly quiet week. Monday was a long weekend and yesterday, for the most part I vegitated in the huge arm chairs at Raffles City and then at then I proceeded to keep the Hans in the National Library happy by ordering a few coffees. Hans has interesting coffee - not as nice as my favourite local coffee with lots of condensed milk (which probably accounts for my 96kg frame) but still beats the hell out of drinking a certain brand of instant coffee which I shall not mention.

However, if yesterday was a day of lazy lounging, the evening was exceedingly productive. Went to the Irish Ambassador's function with Luke and it was a productive networking session. I get the feeling the boys from Enterprise Ireland could be interesting. The new head asked me to come by and visit, I've already traded a few emails with him trying to set up the date. Things are in an exploratory stage but I think this can lead to new opportunities.

The Irish do know how to serve the booze. Had quite a bit of red wine, Guineas and a bit of Jameson Irish Whisky. I'm told that this wouldn't be Irish if there was no booze . People were really quite interesting. Met up with a guy who runs a social networking site called Ammado. It sounds/looks like a facebook for non-profit organisations.

I'm seriously contemplating starting up a foundation of sorts to complement what I'm doing. Clement, one of Today's Editors-At-Large told me he thinks I should form my own NGO. I just need a cause to support. I'm told that NGO's are exceedingly lucrative - not that this would be my reason for setting up a foundation - of course - I mean, students from Western Universities simply cannot resist doing the work for you, particularly if you have a cause that tickles their idealistic bones. I think the best causes will probably be in support of the town of Serodot - not many people actually die from the rockets lobed at them by Hamas but you get loads of support from the US Jewish Community (You can do all sorts of anti-semitic things and then make everyone who calls you names a racist murderer). No profit supporting the other side - but then again, we are talking NON PROFIT here.

Speaking of causes, I managed to get Pema Jane, an old family friend an interview on 938 Live. She was great. She managed to get the words Tibet and Refuge out on air in a harmless and unpolitical way. And she looked good, remained calm and composed during questions about Tibet and earthquakes in China. I must have been hanging around thugs for so long, that I actually found being around a dynamically good person to be a new experience - but then I was always the strange one amongst my mother's children - the other two are clever and talented people - and my Dad's other boy has also become an exceedingly decent person - so that leave only me - perpetually drawn to low-life.
